Missing maxillary incisor – Therapeutic options and clinical considerations

Abstract

The loss of one or more maxillary incisors is a nightmare for any patient—and not just for the
patient. As dental professionals, we are frequently confronted with the challenge of replacing a
tooth in the anterior region, where aesthetics are often even more critical than function. What
treatment options do we have? Is it better to replace a missing incisor with an implant or an
autotransplant? A conventional bridge or an adhesive bridge? How does the patient’s age
influence treatment planning? And how can orthodontics support us in this process? This is not
merely a clinical issue—it is a complex decision-making process that combines morphology, jaw
development, the stability of adjacent teeth, and the patient’s psychological state. The lecture will
explore different clinical approaches, supported by case studies and long-term outcomes of
various treatment strategies.
