Aesthetic Restorations of Anterior Teeth: Ceramic vs. Composite Materials
Abstract
A Predictable Path to a Predefined Outcome – Without Surprises for the Patient
The choice of material in anterior restorations is often seen as a key decision. However, the real question is different: How can we carry out treatment safely and predictably so that the result meets both the clinician’s and the patient’s expectations – without unnecessary surprises?
Aesthetic reconstruction of anterior teeth is guided by a wide range of rules, but emotions and the individual perception of beauty—on both the doctor’s and the patient’s side—play a fundamental role. When basic aesthetic principles are respected, the choice of material itself becomes a secondary factor in the overall success.
Indication criteria are constantly evolving and often differ among clinicians. What are the current trends? How are therapeutic approaches changing? And where is the future development likely heading?
